Published probably before 1914, its author Paul Boucher was assisted by Communeau. Marcel Communeau (1885-1971) was an experienced international rugby player who was selected in the French national team from 1906 to 1913, several times as captain. He was an engineer and studied at the reputed Paris Ecole Centrale, worked after the Great War as the director of a textile factory in Beauvais, a town north of Paris. He introduced the Gallic Cock as national symbol on the French team jersey.
