Labor Day is annually held on the first Monday of September. It was originally organized by the Central Labor Union in 1882 to celebrate various labor associations' strengths and contributions to the United States economy, there were parades of workers trade unions and political speeches. Nowadays it is for most Americans simply a day of rest. Labor Day comes at the end of the summer season, so it is a last chance to make a long weekend trip or hold outdoor events in fine weather.

The 28th Great PowWow will be held in the Mohican reservation in Loudonville, Ohio. The cultural three-day long gathering of singers and dancers meeting to compete, wearing spectacular outfits inspired by Native American culture. Prizes will be awardedawarded to the best contestants. The GM PowWow is held twice in 2012, July 13th to 15th, and in September. First there is a Grand entry parade with Veterans carrying the US flag, tribal flags and the eagle symbols of the dancers, then important leaders of American Indian tribes. The groups of dancers then meet in the arena and the dances can begin after a song to honour the Veterans and a time of common prayer.

This ceremoy was meant originally to honour and bless working horses in London.

Once a year, the vicar of St John's Church meets the congregation on horseback. At noon the horses begin to arrive in procession. The horses present on that Sunday will be blessed. The cavalcade of over 100 horses and riders are then brought to the church where a religious service will be held.

The Pearlies were costermongers, street sellers of fruit in London. Their spectacular distinctive costumes covered with mother of pearl buttons are said to have sprung from the arrival of a big cargo of pearl-buttons from Japan in the 1860's. The tradition of sewing shiny buttons onto caps and clothes has been held until now , Pearly Kings and Queens are elected each year for every London borough. The popular cockney slang (Secret LANGuage) full of rhyming puns is linked with this class of Londoners. The Pearly Society is a charity, a society of mutual help that collects money to help the poor and homeless.
